Tradgedy in Gynyase as nurse, three children perish in house fire

A devastating fire at Gyinyase in the Asokwa Municipality of the Ashanti Region has claimed the lives of a nurse, Linda Agyemang, and her three children. The victims were trapped inside their three-bedroom house as neighbours and passersby made desperate but unsuccessful rescue attempts due to the intensity of the flames.

The fire, which broke out in the early hours of Saturday, left residents in shock. Firefighters, upon arrival, managed to contain the blaze, but the victims were found burnt beyond recognition in the bathroom. Three other occupants of the house were rescued and are currently receiving treatment at Kumasi South Hospital.

The charred bodies have been transported to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for preservation, while authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.

Confirming the incident, Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer for the Ghana Fire Service, DO II Peter Addai, stated, “At 4:36 AM on 8 February 2025, we received a distress call reporting a fire at Gyinyase near Tubi Hotel. When we arrived, the fire was wild, so we called for backup. Unfortunately, we lost four people, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation.”
