Two bodies recovered from floodwaters at Adakope

Two bodies have been recovered from floodwaters at Adakope in the Weija area as search and rescue operations continue following the recent floods.

The victims were found after heavy rains triggered flooding that affected several low-lying communities.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), and the Ghana Armed Forces are continuing search and recovery operations in affected areas.

Authorities say recovery efforts remain ongoing and have warned that additional bodies could be found as floodwaters recede.

The government has deployed the Ghana Armed Forces to lead nationwide clean-up and recovery operations and allocated GH¢350 million for emergency relief, reconstruction and long-term flood mitigation measures.

Support is also being provided to displaced persons as recovery efforts continue in affected communities.
