The Meridian Presbytery Men’s Fellowship of the Evangelical Presbyterian (E.P) Church has been called upon to be productive and create positive change within the church and wider communities. Mr Samuel Akoetey, the newly elected President of the Fellowship, emphasized the need for members to work collectively at all levels to achieve greater goals. He made the remarks during a Thanksgiving Service at the 6th Annual Conference of the Fellowship, held at the E.P Church, Adentan, under the theme “Care for God’s Creation; The Role of Christian Men as Agents of Change in the Church.”
Mr Akoetey encouraged members to build a lasting fellowship rooted in evangelism, welfare, and community impact. He said the Fellowship must go beyond visitations, delivering results that benefit both the church and the nation. The newly elected executives include Mr Samuel Akoetey as President, Mr Raymond Atadze as Vice President, Mr Wisdom K. The Fellowship covers areas from Labadi through Ada, Dodowa, Adentan, and Legon, with a mission to strengthen evangelism, promote welfare, and work towards environmental sustainability and technological advancement. Rev Dr Abraham D. Akoto, Men’s Desk Programme Officer in Ho, who delivered the sermon, urged the Fellowship not to cling only to church practices and traditions but to carry out their duties with love, stressing that tradition without God’s love becomes a burden on the church.
In an interview, Rev Dr Akoto also cautioned Christians against over-reliance on prophecies. While acknowledging that prophecies are good, he warned that some ministers misuse them for personal glorification and financial gain. He advised believers to remain steadfast in devotion, read the Bible more, and avoid the temptation of constantly chasing prophecies, which can easily mislead.
