Curfew on Nalerigu lifted after improved security assessment

Authorities have lifted the curfew previously imposed on Nalerigu following an improved security assessment and a period of relative calm in the area.

The decision, announced by the Ministry of the Interior in consultation with regional security authorities, comes after weeks of restrictions aimed at restoring order and preventing further disturbances.

The curfew had been introduced to contain tensions and safeguard lives and property amid security concerns in the community.

Security agencies say the situation has significantly stabilised, with enhanced patrols and intelligence-led operations contributing to the restoration of peace. Community leaders and stakeholders are also reported to have played a role in promoting dialogue and cooperation.

While the curfew has been lifted, authorities have urged residents to continue to exercise restraint, comply with the law, and support efforts to maintain lasting peace. Security personnel will remain on alert to respond swiftly to any emerging threats.

The lifting of the curfew is expected to allow businesses, schools, and other social activities to operate without restriction, offering relief to residents who had been affected by the limitations on movement.

Government has reiterated its commitment to sustaining peace and stability in Nalerigu and surrounding communities through continued collaboration with local leaders and security agencies.
