Most Reverend Dr Cyril Kobina Ben-Smith, Archbishop of the Internal Province of Ghana and Diocesan Bishop of Mampong, described the gathering as a defining moment for the Anglican Church to renew its unity, purpose, and commitment to service.
He urged members to focus their discussions on leadership and youth engagement while emphasising the critical role of fathers in nurturing stable families. “In some places, when you find children going wayward, it is because the father is irresponsible or absent in their lives. Unfortunately, some men neglect their responsibilities, and this must change,” he said.
Most Rev. Dr Ben-Smith encouraged members to bring their families and friends to church and commended Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu for his advocacy for moral and disciplinary education in schools. He also revealed that discussions were underway for the establishment of an Archbishop Act by 2030 to enhance church governance.
Northern Regional Minister Mr Ali Adolf John, who graced the event, lauded the Anglican Church for its contributions to national development, particularly in education, health, and social welfare.
He praised the Fellowship for its role in promoting moral discipline, family unity, and community service, stating, “Ghana needs men like you, men who serve not for recognition but for transformation. True leadership is not about titles; it is about touching lives.”
Mr John urged members to uphold peace, integrity, and environmental responsibility while mentoring the youth away from drug abuse and towards productive lifestyles.
The conference concluded with the election of new national executives. Worthy Brother (W/Bro) Kenneth Oscar Ghartey from the Accra Diocesan Council was elected National President.
Other officers elected included W/Bro Cedrick Nana Deeku (National Vice President, Sekondi), W/Bro Emmanuel Tia (National General Secretary, Tamale), W/Bro Jerry Aikins (Deputy National General Secretary, Tema), and W/Bro Francis Amponsah Aikins (National Treasurer, Kumasi).
