The Inspector-General of Police has deployed reinforcement teams and armoured vehicles to Nalerigu and surrounding communities in the North East Region following violent incidents in the regional capital.
This statement was signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Robert Anabiik Anmain, Head of the Public Affairs Unit in the North East Regional Headquarters of the Ghana Police Service in Nalerigu on December 18, 2025.

The Police said the deployment followed the setting ablaze of two houses by some youth in Nalerigu, coupled with threats to burn additional houses and attack residents.
According to the Police, the reinforcement teams have been dispatched to restore calm, protect lives and property, and strengthen security in the affected communities.
The deployment is also intended to support the enforcement of the curfew imposed by the government on Nalerigu and its environs.
The statement explained that the teams will work alongside the North East Regional Police Command to intensify security patrols on major highways in the region to ensure the safety of commuters.
The Police Command further assured the general public, and residents of Nalerigu in particular, that investigations into the attacks and the burning of the houses are ongoing.
It added that all persons found to be involved in the incidents will be arrested and brought to justice.
