The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has withdrawn the access cards of two Port Health officers at the Accra International Airport after they were found to have extorted money from a foreign passenger.
According to a statement issued on Thursday, August 6, 2026, the officers, who were operating inside Terminal 3, charged a foreign passport holder USD 40 for the issuance of a Yellow Fever Card instead of the approved fee of USD 20.

GACL said the approved fee for foreign passport holders is USD 20, while Ghanaian passport holders are required to pay GH¢100.
The company said it took immediate action by withdrawing and deactivating the officers’ identification cards, adding that as of August 6, 2026, the two officers are no longer permitted to work at the Accra International Airport or any other airport operated by GACL.
Management also confirmed that a Ghana Immigration Service officer captured in a viral video demanding money for “breakfast” from a passenger has been transferred from the airport by the Ghana Immigration Service.
GACL reiterated its zero-tolerance policy on extortion and urged passengers to report such incidents through its dedicated hotline, 054217 5636, available for calls, WhatsApp and text messages.
The company said it remains committed to protecting the integrity and reputation of Ghana’s airports.
