The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has operationalised new 3D-CT security screening equipment at Terminal 3 of Accra International Airport to improve passenger experience and enhance airport service delivery.
The equipment was officially unveiled by the Minister for Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.

According to GACL, the new screening technology allows passengers to keep laptops and other large electronic devices in their cabin baggage during security screening. Passengers may also keep their shoes and belts on unless additional screening is required.
The company said liquids, aerosols, and gels (LAGs) can remain in cabin baggage during screening, although the existing restriction on containers exceeding 100 millilitres remains in force.
GACL added that a new Automatic Tray Return System has been introduced to speed up the return of trays for passengers to repack their belongings, reducing processing times at security checkpoints.
The company appealed to passengers for their cooperation as the new security screening equipment is fully implemented at the airport.
