First batch of 2,000 Ghana Armed Forces recruits to begin training

The Ghana Armed Forces has announced the completion of selection for the first batch of recruits, with 2,000 personnel set to begin training as part of a four-batch recruitment exercise.

According to a statement issued by the Military High Command in Accra, the selected recruits are to report to their respective selection centres across all 16 regions on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. to receive their appointment letters and training prospectus.

The Armed Forces also encouraged applicants who were previously disqualified due to curable medical conditions to seek treatment, assuring them of an opportunity to undergo a review at a later stage at no cost.

Notably, the first batch includes 18 individuals who sustained injuries during the El-Wak Stadium stampede last year, as well as five others sponsored by families of victims of the tragic incident.

The Military expressed appreciation to the various Regional Administrations for their support in decentralising the recruitment process, allowing applicants to participate from their respective regions in line with government policy.

Authorities further urged applicants yet to be selected to remain calm, indicating that additional batches will be drawn from a pool of candidates who performed well in the aptitude tests. The Armed Forces also hinted at continued recruitment beyond this year due to the availability of qualified applicants.

Additionally, the Military disclosed that a directive to facilitate recruitment for individuals from Sikaman in the Ashanti Region, who assisted during last year’s helicopter crash rescue operation,is being considered for inclusion in the second batch.

The Ghana Armed Forces reaffirmed its commitment to a transparent and inclusive recruitment process as it works to strengthen the country’s military capacity.
