A statement issued to the Ghana News Agency said this year’s edition will honour both past and present chairpersons of the National Peace Council, alongside distinguished personalities and organisations whose efforts have deepened democracy, unity, and national cohesion.
Ambassador Gladys Biney, World Citizens Peace Ambassador for Ghana and coordinator of the event, explained that the initiative goes beyond recognition; it aims to build a global movement for peace, partnership, and purpose.
“Peace is the foundation of every nation’s progress, and it is only right that we celebrate the heroes who work daily to sustain it. This event is not just an awards ceremony; it is a movement calling the world to unite for peace and development,” she said.
The 2025 Global Peace Ambassadors Awards and NGOs Conference will feature keynote addresses, cultural performances, and networking sessions to foster collaboration among peacebuilders, NGOs, corporate executives, and development partners.
Invited guests include government officials, diplomats, faith leaders, media executives, youth advocates, and international peace organisations, with the President of the Republic expected to attend as Special Guest of Honour in recognition of his leadership in promoting peace and democratic governance.
The event’s theme underscores peace as a shared responsibility and essential pillar of human progress, reaffirming Ghana’s global reputation as a model of stability and democracy.
It also aims to:
- Celebrate individuals and organisations advancing peace, development, and humanitarian values.
- Strengthen partnerships among NGOs, corporate institutions, and peace agencies.
- Inspire youth leadership in peacebuilding.
- Support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 16 – Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.
