The offices of the Kadjebi National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) Manager and the District Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) have resumed operations after being closed for several days.
The offices were barricaded on Monday, September 15, by a group reportedly affiliated with the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by Mr. Sampson Quarshiga Akan, the Akan NDC Youth Organiser.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Monday, September 22, Mr. Reuben Kemavor, the NADMO District Director, confirmed that his office had reopened and that work was ongoing. Efforts to reach Mr. Emmanuel Klu, the NHIS Scheme Manager, for comments were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to calls.
However, a staff member at the NHIS office, who requested anonymity, disclosed that the facility was reopened by National Security operatives on Friday, September 19.
When contacted, Mr. Quarshiga said his group had accomplished its objectives, adding that the timing of the reopening was “irrelevant” to their cause. The group had taken action over concerns that the party hierarchy was not consulted during the appointment of the officers.
While some residents of Kadjebi expressed support for the group’s actions, others condemned them as undemocratic and disruptive to public service delivery.
