MTN Ghana supports Oguaa Fetu Afahye with GH₵70,000 sponsorship and free data for subscribers

MTN Ghana has presented GH₵70,000 to the Oguaa Traditional Council in support of this year’s Fetu Afahye celebration in Cape Coast.

As part of the package, the telecom operator is also offering complimentary data to subscribers in the area to improve connectivity, facilitate communication, support digital record-keeping, and enhance online outreach during the festivities.

Mr Godwin Mensah, Chief Corporate Services Officer of MTN Ghana, said the gesture was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility and its commitment to preserving Ghana’s cultural heritage. He reaffirmed MTN’s dedication to supporting community development and cultural identity.

To further engage the community, MTN has set up booths at vantage points with promotional activities, encouraging the use of Mobile Money (MoMo) and its digital apps. A gaming night and musical concert are also scheduled for September 5 and 6 at Chapel Square.

Receiving the cheque, Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II, Omanhen of the Oguaa Traditional Area, expressed gratitude, saying the support would strengthen the festival secretariat’s efforts to successfully organise the annual celebration. He also appealed to other corporate institutions to emulate MTN’s example in supporting Ghanaian culture.

The Oguaa Fetu Afahye, one of Ghana’s most vibrant festivals, honours ancestors, promotes unity, and boosts the local economy through durbars, traditional rituals, and rich cultural displays.
