In a significant move to strengthen healthcare financing, the Parliament of Ghana has approved GH¢2.9 billion for the Ghana Medical Trust Fund.
The allocation is intended to enhance the provision of quality medical services, improve healthcare infrastructure, and support public health initiatives across the country.

The Ghana Medical Trust Fund, established to provide sustainable funding for critical medical interventions, will use the resources to expand access to essential treatments, procure medical equipment, and strengthen health service delivery, particularly in underserved regions.
Lawmakers emphasized that this funding will also support ongoing efforts to reduce the financial burden on patients, improve healthcare outcomes, and ensure the timely provision of medical care nationwide.
Parliament called on the Fund’s management to ensure transparency, accountability, and prudent use of the resources to maximize the impact on Ghana’s healthcare sector.
This move reflects the government’s commitment to prioritizing health as a key pillar of national development and aligns with broader strategies to modernize Ghana’s healthcare system.
