The Paramount Chief of the Nyankpala Traditional Area, Naa Ibrahim Mahama, has commended the government and the Executive Management of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) for implementing health reforms aimed at improving the wellbeing of residents across the country.
The chief specifically praised the Free Primary Health Care policy and the ongoing free National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) registration and membership renewal exercise.

Naa Ibrahim Mahama expressed his appreciation when a joint team from the NHIA Head Office and the Northern Regional Office paid a courtesy call on him at his palace.
The Head Office delegation was led by Acting Deputy Director of the Corporate Affairs Directorate’s Provider and Client Relations Unit, Hamdiya Amadu Yakubu, and included Senior Manager Linda Acquah and Manager for Membership and Regional Operations, Prince Aboagye.
According to the NHIA, the Head Office team joined regional and district office staff in a six-week intensive NHIS registration and membership renewal campaign dubbed “Operation Markets Storm.”
The Acting Northern Regional Director of the NHIA, Alhassan Abdulai, thanked the Nyankpala chief for supporting the campaign and allowing the use of his palace forecourt for the exercise.
He also appealed to the chief and his council of elders to help promote the Free Primary Health Care policy and the ongoing free NHIS registration and membership renewal exercise, which is scheduled to end on May 31, 2026.
