The National Labour Commission (NLC) has directed the Komfo Anokye Doctors’ Association (KADA) to immediately call off its indefinite strike, declaring that the industrial action contravenes provisions of the Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651).
In a summons dated June 6, 2026, and addressed to the Chairman of KADA, the Commission said it had taken note of media reports announcing the association’s decision to embark on an indefinite strike effective June 6.

According to the NLC, the strike declaration was communicated in a letter dated June 5, 2026, to the Chairman of the Board of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, with copies sent to the Chief of Staff, the Minister of Health and others. The notice indicated that KADA was dissatisfied with certain operational and administrative decisions and actions, prompting the industrial action.
The Commission stated that the notice was improperly served and did not comply with the relevant provisions of the labour laws. It therefore directed KADA, under Section 139(d) of the Labour Act, to call off the strike immediately.
The NLC said the strike action contravenes Sections 162 and 163 of Act 651.
The Commission has summoned the parties to appear before it on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 2 p.m. for a hearing on the issues in dispute.
