The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the reopening of the Embassy of Ghana in Tehran, Iran, after its temporary closure in June due to heightened tensions between Iran and Israel.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Ministry said the Mission will resume full operations on September 16, 2025. The closure, it explained, was a precautionary measure to protect staff during the peak of hostilities in the region.

With relative calm now restored, conditions have become favourable for the resumption of normal diplomatic activities. “Notwithstanding this decision, the Ministry will continue to monitor the situation to ensure that the safety of the staff working in the Embassy and the Ghanaian community in Iran is not compromised,” the statement said.
The Ministry also assured the public of its commitment to the welfare of Ghanaians living in Iran, promising periodic updates should developments in the region require further action.
The reopening of the Mission is expected to restore consular and diplomatic services to Ghanaians in Iran and strengthen bilateral relations between Ghana and Iran.
