A major fire has destroyed the Melcom Ghana Central Warehouse near Niche Cocoa in the Tema Free Zone Enclave, with no casualties recorded.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the fire was reported at 6:12 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, 2026, and was fully extinguished at 8:40 a.m. on Sunday, July 5, after 14 hours and 14 minutes of firefighting operations. The blaze was brought under control at 2:03 a.m.

The operation involved eight fire appliances, 51 firefighters and 19 water tankers provided by local assemblies and private operators.
The GNFS said the 7.25-acre (315,710 square feet) warehouse and its contents were completely destroyed. Items lost included forklifts, electric tricycles, pallet trucks, food items, home appliances and ceramics.
Firefighters, however, managed to salvage critical assets, including generators, transformers and cold compressor units, while preventing the fire from spreading to adjoining office areas.
The Ghana National Fire Service confirmed that no injuries or deaths were recorded.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The GNFS expressed appreciation to partner agencies, local assemblies, private water tanker operators and other stakeholders for their support during the firefighting operation.
