Kumasi, Oct. 8. The final funeral rites for Ghanaian highlife legend Daddy Lumba will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, according to an announcement by DL FM.

His passing sparked nationwide grief, with tributes pouring in from fans, fellow musicians, and political figures, including both current and former presidents.

To honour his legacy, the Creative Arts Agency, in collaboration with the Fosu family, organised a national candlelight vigil on August 2, 2025, at Independence Square in Accra. The event, which ran from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., drew thousands of fans and coincided with similar tributes held in Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, the Netherlands, and other parts of Ghana.

A one-week memorial service was also held on August 30, 2025, at Independence Square, in line with Akan tradition. Hundreds of fans, artistes, dignitaries, and relatives gathered to celebrate the life and music of the late icon.

Widely regarded as one of Ghana’s greatest musical legends, Daddy Lumba leaves behind a timeless collection of highlife classics, including Aben Wo Ha, Yentie Obiaa, Theresa Abebrese, Sika Asem, Ako Te Brofo, and Odo Bewu Dee.

Over his four-decade career, he released more than 30 albums, won several Ghana Music Awards, and received numerous honours for his unmatched contribution to Ghanaian music and culture.
