UDS Mall, a shopping center located on the Tamale Campus of the University for Development Studies, has been ravaged by a fire, resulting in the complete loss of the facility and its contents, which catered to both students and the public.
The fire, which reportedly started around 10:00 AM on Friday, engulfed the shopping center, housing businesses such as a printing press, a hairdressing salon, and a provision stall.
Mr. Christian Abi, the devastated Chief Executive Officer of UDS Mall, estimated the loss to be over one million Ghana Cedis. Speaking with tears in his eyes, he shared the impact of the incident and made a heartfelt appeal for assistance.
“The situation is unbearable as I have lost all my investments,” said Mr. Abi. He urged members of the public to come to his aid during this challenging time.
The Ghana National Fire Service has initiated investigations into the cause of the fire at the facility. The incident has left the local community and business owners grappling with the aftermath of the extensive damage.
