
Hon. Alhassan Umar is the Member of Parliament for Zabzugu, elected on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Born on Wednesday, 29th June 1966, he is a native of Zabzugu and a devout Muslim. He brings to Parliament a strong combination of global education and professional experience.
He holds a Certified International Project Manager credential from the International Academy of Project Management (2013), an MBA from the University of Phoenix (2006), a Post-Graduate Diploma from The Chubb Institute, New Jersey (2000), and a BA from Rutgers University, USA (1998).

His professional background spans both Ghana and the United States. In Ghana, he served as Director of ITES at the Ministry of Communication. In the United States, he held roles such as Executive Analyst at Barclays Capital in New Jersey, Trade Specialist at Computershare/Equiserve Inc., Software Engineer at Tech Resources in Virginia, Senior Claims Liaison at Prudential Insurance Company, and additional roles with MetLife and Chase Mellon Investor Services.
Hon. Umar first served in Ghana’s 7th Parliament. He is currently an active member of the Appointments Committee, the Information and Communications Committee, the Employment, Labour Relations and Pensions Committee, and the Judiciary Committee.
