The body of a teenage girl has been retrieved from a vehicle submerged in floodwaters at Alajo following the recent floods in Accra.
The victim, believed to be under 15 years old, was found inside a blue commercial minibus that was swept into a drainage gutter by floodwaters during Monday’s heavy rains.

According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle was carried away by the strong current, trapping the girl inside. A resident reportedly retrieved the body after authorities were unable to access the scene.
Authorities are working to identify the victim and trace her family.
The incident adds to the death toll from the recent floods, which have displaced thousands of people and prompted government-led recovery operations across affected communities.
The government has deployed the Ghana Armed Forces and the Joint Task Force to support clean-up and recovery efforts and allocated GH¢350 million for emergency relief, reconstruction and long-term flood mitigation measures.
