The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has finalized the timelines for conducting the parliamentary primary by-election in the Ejisu constituency. The approved schedule, announced today, lays out key dates and procedures for aspiring candidates seeking to contest in the election.
According to the announcement made by Mr Justin Kodua Frimpong, General Secretary of the NPP, the following timelines have been established:
- Opening of Nomination: Tuesday, April 2, 2024
- Closing of Nomination: Thursday, April 4, 2024
- Election Day: Saturday, April 13, 2024
Aspiring Parliamentary Candidates (APCs) are required to procure Nomination Forms after paying a non-refundable application fee of GHC 3,000.00 in Bankers Draft to the New Patriotic Party National Headquarters, Accra. Additionally, a non-refundable filing fee of GHC 35,000.00 is to be paid for successful nomination.
However, special considerations have been made for Women, Youth, and Persons With Disabilities (PWDs), who are eligible for a 50% rebate on the filing fees. This means they will only be required to pay GHC 17,500.00. Youth candidates are defined as individuals between 18 and 40 years of age.
Importantly, the NPP emphasizes that no individual shall be denied access to purchase Nomination Forms, ensuring an inclusive process. The Election Committee (EC) has been constituted, comprising various party officials and representatives from the constituency.
Detailed Rules and Regulations governing the conduct of the parliamentary primary election have been approved by the Party and will be made available to stakeholders. Nomination Forms will be obtainable at the Constituency Party Office for interested candidates.
