A training session aimed at assessing and monitoring agricultural trade performance among ECOWAS member states has commenced in Abuja, Nigeria. The initiative, conducted under the West Africa Food System Resilience Programme (FSRP), involves three experts from each member state who will subsequently apply the acquired knowledge in their respective countries.
Key focus areas of the Training of Trainers include data collection, validation, and reporting tools for the ECOWAS Agricultural Trade and Markets (EATM). Ghana is represented by Allswell Emmanuel Okai (FSRP), Faisal Mukaila (PPMED-MoFA), and Mary Opoku Mintah (MOTI) at the workshop.
Implemented by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture in Ghana, the programme seeks to strengthen regional food system risk management, enhance the sustainability of productive bases in targeted areas, and foster the development of regional agricultural markets.
Following the training, experts will replicate the knowledge gained at the national level for national EATM teams and other technical team members. The session adopts a hybrid format to enable online participation, facilitating broader engagement and knowledge dissemination across ECOWAS member states.
