The Ghana Police Service has arrested two suspected street robbers and retrieved several stolen items following an intelligence-led patrol operation at Dzorwulu in Accra.
According to a press release issued by the Accra Regional Public Affairs Unit, the arrest was carried out by the Kotobabi District Police Command on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.

The suspects were apprehended during a routine patrol when officers encountered two suspicious individuals riding an unregistered black Royal 125 motorbike.
The suspects were identified as Stephen Gletsu, aged 37, who was riding the motorbike, and Mohammed Sheriff, aged 20, who was the pillion rider. Police officers observed that both men were dressed in all-black attire with black helmets, and the pillion rider was seen wielding a cutlass.
Upon noticing the police patrol team, the suspects attempted to flee, prompting a chase. During the pursuit, warning shots were fired, causing the suspects to lose control of the motorbike and fall near Roman Ridge, close to the Nigerian High Commission.
The two men attempted to escape on foot but were traced and arrested by the patrol team.
A search conducted on the suspects led to the retrieval of several items, including one Infinix mobile phone, one iPhone 12 Pro, one Samsung A21, one iPhone 15 Pro, one iPhone 13, one Infinix feature phone, one itel feature phone, one Nokia feature phone, one Infinix X6528 phone, a necklace, and cash amounting to GH₵2,690.00 and USD 2.
The suspects sustained varying degrees of injuries during the arrest and were sent to the Police Hospital, where they received treatment and were later discharged.
During interrogation, the suspects admitted to committing the robberies and confessed to attacking several unsuspecting victims within the Accra Metropolis.
Statements have since been obtained from multiple victims who positively identified both the suspects and their stolen mobile phones. The victims recounted how they were attacked with a machete and robbed of their phones, money, and other valuables.
The two suspects have been remanded into police custody to assist with ongoing investigations. Further investigations have also led to the arrest of four additional accomplices who are currently assisting the police.
The suspects have been arraigned before court and are expected to reappear on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
