A joint security operation involving the Ghana Police Service, the 3rd Infantry Battalion (3BN), and the Bureau of National Intelligence has led to the arrest of 24 suspects and the recovery of a cache of weapons in Sampa.
The intelligence-led operation, carried out in the early hours of March 21, 2026, forms part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to clamp down on criminal activities and the proliferation of illegal weapons in the region.

During the exercise, security personnel retrieved eight assorted firearms, including pump-action guns, a Baikal gun, and locally manufactured weapons. A large quantity of ammunition,790 rounds of AAA and BB cartridges,was also seized.
Additional items recovered include machetes, bayonets, knives, clubs, military-style clothing, mobile phones, motorbikes, and other suspected tools and materials believed to be linked to criminal activities.
Police confirmed that among those arrested are individuals of varying ages, including minors. Two suspects were specifically apprehended for breaching curfew regulations.
All suspects are currently in custody assisting with investigations and are expected to be processed for court in due course.
The Bono Regional Command has called on the public to support law enforcement efforts by providing credible information that can help identify and arrest individuals involved in illegal possession of weapons.
Authorities say the operation underscores their commitment to ensuring safety and maintaining law and order across the region.
