Mrs Angela Mensah-Poku, Chief Enterprise Business Officer at MTN Ghana, highlighted informality, lack of access to finance, and limited adoption of digital tools as structural challenges confronting female entrepreneurs. She stressed that without formality, many women were locked out of loans, partnerships, and networks that could propel growth.
“We need to fix these fundamentals, then provide mentoring, training, and the right digital tools to help women scale,” she said.
She further noted the underrepresentation of women in engineering and technology, urging deliberate policies and supportive environments to help women balance professional and maternal roles.
Dr Anatu Mahama, Founder of the Academic Women Foundation, underscored the importance of platforms that amplify women’s voices in academia, policy, and industry.
“We must move from exclusion to influence, from women as bystanders to women as shapers of change,” she said, emphasising solidarity and shared responsibility across generations.
The event served as both a celebration of progress and a call to action for policymakers, private sector leaders, and civil society to accelerate inclusivity and equity.
With stories of resilience, mentorship, and innovation, the She Build Conference demonstrated the transformative power of women when given equal access to resources and opportunities.
