The Minister emphasised that the prevailing economic conditions make this an opportune time for Pakistani businesses to enter the Ghanaian market, assuring them of favourable returns. She also announced that the government has extended the investment repatriation period from 60 days to 120 days under the current administration.
She further outlined plans to implement the “Feed the Industry Policy,” which aims at promoting value addition to raw materials to sustain local industries. According to her, thousands of acres of land have been secured for commercial farming under the initiative, with incentives available for investors importing agricultural and agro-processing equipment.
Hon. Ofosu-Adjare urged the resubmission of the draft Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to facilitate swift action by both sides, reaffirming the commitment of Ghana and Pakistan to strengthening economic, diplomatic and political relations.
Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan, who was accompanied by Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E. Najeeb Durrani, thanked the Minister for the warm reception and expressed Pakistan’s readiness to invest in Ghana. He noted that Pakistan has significant expertise to contribute, particularly in education and medical diagnostics.
He also commended the Ministry’s efforts to revisit the draft MOU, which has been pending since last year, stressing that its signing would boost investment flows and further deepen bilateral relations between the two countries.
