Stanbic Bank Ghana empowers SMEs with capacity building and financial tools at Taifa SME Clinic through Stanbic Business Incubator

Stanbic Bank Ghana, through its Stanbic Business Incubator, has successfully hosted its Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Clinic for the Greater Accra Region in Taifa, providing critical support for entrepreneurs seeking to scale their businesses.

The event brought together SMEs with experts and Bank representatives to equip them with knowledge, tools, and networks vital for growth in today’s competitive economy.

Mr Hamza Mumuni, Manager of the Stanbic Incubator, emphasised the initiative’s mission to help small businesses expand beyond local operations. “We create the opportunity for you to expand.

We give you the right platforms and connections to grow nationwide and globally. Utilisation of digital avenues is very important, so we teach those things,” he said, highlighting the Incubator’s focus on capacity building. He added that financial constraints often hinder SMEs, and the program also supports access to soft loans and grants with reduced interest rates.

Mrs Dinah Kaleo-Bioh, Head of Business and Commercial Banking at Stanbic Bank Ghana, underlined the importance of equipping beneficiaries with the right tools to thrive. She described the SME Clinic as an avenue to manage capital wisely, build resilient businesses, and maintain competitiveness in a fast-evolving, data-driven market. “Our commitment at Stanbic is not only to support businesses with financial resources but to empower them with knowledge, skills, and networks that will allow them to flourish,” she said, noting that SMEs are the backbone of Ghana’s economy.

Expert speakers offered insights on key drivers of business sustainability. Kwame Owusu Acheampong, Senior Associate at KPMG, highlighted financial discipline, including budgeting, bookkeeping, and inventory management, as essential for preventing leakages and enabling strategic growth planning.

Dr Boahemaa Ntim, Managing Partner at Blacksmith Africa Consulting, stressed the importance of customer-centric operations, brand loyalty, and leveraging digital media to strengthen competitive advantage.

Throughout the clinic, participants engaged in practical sessions covering financial management, digital tools, and trade opportunities, leaving with actionable strategies to strengthen their businesses.

The Stanbic Bank SME Clinic is a nationwide initiative aimed at empowering entrepreneurs across Ghana with the knowledge, networks, and financial tools needed to innovate, grow, and succeed.
