The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako-Atta, has assured road contractors that the government will settle a significant portion of outstanding payments owed them before the end of the year.
He said the government remained committed to supporting contractors despite the country’s economic challenges and would continue to honour its financial obligations as resources became available.

Mr Amoako-Atta gave the assurance while addressing guests at the 2022 Nine Lessons and Carols organised by the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Roads and Highways.
He commended road contractors for their continued commitment to executing projects across the country despite financial constraints.
“Contractors of this country are doing a yeoman’s job despite all the difficulties, and I want to assure them that government will continue to work in their interest and all their outstanding payments from now onwards will be done from time to time,” he said.
He added that a substantial portion of the outstanding payments would be released before the end of the year, with further payments to follow.
The Roads and Highways Minister also stated that, despite prevailing economic difficulties, the government had not suspended any ongoing road projects and remained committed to investing in the country’s road infrastructure.
He appealed to residents in communities awaiting road construction or rehabilitation to exercise patience while the government mobilised additional resources to expand and improve the national road network.
“The people deserve to have good roads. I appeal to all those who haven’t had their turn to be patient and calm,” Mr Amoako-Atta said.
