Engineers and Planners secures $230 million Caterpillar financing for mining expansion

Engineers and Planners (E&P), one of Ghana’s leading indigenous mining and construction companies, has secured a $230 million equipment financing agreement with the Mansour Group of Dubai and Egypt to expand its mining operations.

The financing facility will enable the acquisition of a fleet of Caterpillar heavy-duty mining equipment, strengthening the company’s operational capacity in Ghana and across sub-Saharan Africa.

The equipment package includes 50 Caterpillar 785 mining trucks, 30 Caterpillar 777 haul trucks, five Caterpillar 992K wheel loaders and 20 Caterpillar D9R bulldozers. The agreement also covers the supply of water bowsers, fuel bowsers, motor graders and backhoes.

The financing agreement marks a significant investment in Ghana’s mining industry and is expected to enhance E&P’s ability to undertake large-scale mining projects across the region.

Founded in 1997 and headquartered in Accra, Engineers and Planners is a wholly Ghanaian-owned mining and construction contracting company with more than 25 years of experience in the sector.

Over the years, the company has undertaken major infrastructure and mining projects, including road construction, hard rock mining, tailings dam construction, landfill development, leach pad construction and land reclamation.

E&P has executed mining contracts in both Ghana and Liberia and currently provides hard rock mining services for Gold Fields Ghana Limited at its Tarkwa Mine and Abosso Goldfields Limited at the Damang Mine.

The company previously carried out hard rock mining operations for Golden Star (Wassa) Limited between January 2010 and May 2014.

Most recently, Abosso Goldfields Limited appointed E&P as the principal mining contractor for the Damang Complex Pit, further strengthening the company’s position in Ghana’s mining sector.

The company’s latest major mining project is the Cardinal Namdini Mine in the Upper East Region, where it continues to expand its operations.
