The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has dismissed reports suggesting that Ghana is in talks with the United Kingdom to receive migrants for processing and resettlement.
The reports, published by some UK media outlets, claimed that the British government was considering a plan to send migrants arriving illegally in the UK to countries such as Rwanda and Ghana for asylum processing.

The reports linked the proposal to a document referred to as “Operation Red Meat,” which allegedly contained measures to address illegal migration across the English Channel.
However, in a statement issued on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Ghana had not engaged with the UK government on any such arrangement and had no intention of considering such a plan in the future.
The Ministry recalled that it had previously rejected similar reports in September 2021 concerning a possible agreement between Ghana and the UK to host deported or returned migrants from third countries.
It said the government’s position had not changed and urged the public to disregard any reports suggesting otherwise.
The Ministry further advised that any publication implying Ghana’s involvement in such an operation should be ignored.
