The Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment, Hon. Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, has outlined his vision for transforming Ghana’s labour and employment sector through job creation, innovation, industrial harmony, research and skills development.
Hon. Agyekum shared the vision on September 2, 2026, during his maiden engagement with the management of the Ministry and heads of its departments following his assumption of office.

Welcoming the Minister on behalf of management, the Chief Director, Mr. Hamidu Adakurugu, pledged the full support and cooperation of management and staff towards the successful implementation of his vision.
Engaging management and heads of departments, Hon. Agyekum called for stronger collaboration across the Ministry and urged management to view existing challenges as opportunities for innovation, improvement and growth.
He proposed the establishment of a dedicated research team to strengthen evidence-based policymaking and called for targeted training to equip staff with the skills needed to effectively harness modern technologies.
The Minister also underscored the growing potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and encouraged the Ministry to explore emerging opportunities for job creation and productivity.
He proposed mentorship programmes to help students align their studies with opportunities in the labour market and urged renewed efforts to strengthen the labour exchange programme.
Hon. Agyekum also emphasised the need to protect Ghanaians working abroad while promoting local industrialisation by identifying products, including solar panels, that could be produced locally to reduce import dependence and create jobs.
Heads of departments and management subsequently took turns to engage the Minister, sharing their perspectives and highlighting key issues requiring attention within their respective institutions.
The Minister called for regular engagements to assess progress, exchange ideas and strengthen the Ministry’s delivery.
