AfDB appoints new country manager for Ghana

The African Development Bank has appointed Halima H. Hashi as its new Country Manager for Ghana.

The announcement was made following a meeting with Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who received her open letters and welcomed her to Ghana on April 15, 2026.

He commended the AfDB for its contributions to Ghana’s development since establishing its office in 1973, citing support for projects including the Big Push, Feed Ghana, the Eastern Corridor Road, AI initiatives, and irrigation interventions.

He noted that the Bank currently has an investment portfolio of about US$1.3 billion in active projects in Ghana.

Hon. Ablakwa also stated that President John Dramani Mahama will continue to guide in his role as African Union Champion for African Financial Institutions, aimed at promoting financial sovereignty and retaining African reserves for infrastructure development.

He welcomed Halima H. Hashi and wished her a successful tenure.
