The Deputy Minister for Finance, Hon. Thomas Nyarko-Ampem, has inaugurated the Governing Board of the National Homeownership Fund Ltd. (NHF), with Abraham Ekow Halm appointed as chairperson. He urged the board to ensure that affordable housing becomes truly accessible to the ordinary Ghanaian, stressing that access to decent shelter remains a major challenge, particularly for low- and middle-income earners.
Hon. Nyarko-Ampem called on the board to design practical strategies to address the country’s housing needs, noting the pressing demand for inclusive housing solutions. Chief Executive Officer of the NHF, Mr. Prosper Yaw Hoetu, underscored the urgency of the task, revealing that only 5 percent of Ghanaians can currently afford to buy their own homes, while about 60 percent require some form of assistance to secure decent accommodation. He pledged the Fund’s commitment to improving housing access and expanding opportunities for ownership.
