An audio recording purportedly featuring Mavis Hawa Koomson, the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, criticizing fellow MP and NPP flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Agyapong has surfaced.
The viral voice note, shared on YouTube by One Ghana TV, captures Koomson accusing Agyapong of boasting about his assistance while eventually using it to insult beneficiaries.
She recounted an incident in 2012 when Agyapong offered cars, but she declined due to his perceived tendency to disparage those he assists.
“I know Kennedy Agyapong will turn around to insult you in the future whenever he helps you, and knowing that I didn't want to be insulted in the future, I did not go for the car,” she asserted.
Koomson's statements were in response to what she considered an attack by a pro-Ken NPP member on the party's WhatsApp platform in her constituency.
Furthermore, she questioned Agyapong's commitment to the NPP, asserting, “If Ken Agyapong is a true NPP member he would not threaten to abandon the party to go and live abroad if he is not voted for. As a true member, will you follow someone with such a mindset; someone who says he won't work for the party if he loses a contest?”
Hawa Koomson, a vocal supporter of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the NPP flagbearer race, accused Agyapong of benefiting financially from the party through contracts while seeking the flagbearer position.
