Aggrieved food suppliers protest unpaid arrears of NAFCo premises: Ghana News

Aggrieved food suppliers have staged a protest at the premises of the National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCo), demanding the payment of outstanding arrears for food supplied to various senior high schools across the country over the past two years.

The suppliers began their protest in July, following months of appeals to the government for the settlement of their arrears to enable them to continue their operations. Expressing disappointment, they revealed that only a partial payment of the arrears was made despite assurances from the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong, that they would be paid by July 17.

Despite assurances of complete payment by August 17, the suppliers found themselves still awaiting the outstanding amounts, prompting their protest at the NAFCo premises.

Struggling amidst current economic challenges, the suppliers emphasized the importance of the outstanding payments for their businesses' sustainability.

They called on the government to honor its promise and expedite the full payment to alleviate their financial burdens and ensure their continued participation in supplying food to schools nationwide.
