Deputy Minister James Gyakye Quayson commissions Sefwi Wiawso passport application centre

Deputy Foreign Minister James Gyakye Quayson

The Sefwi Wiawso Passport Application Centre was officially commissioned on Tuesday, 6th January 2026, by the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable James Gyakye Quayson (MP).

Speaking at the event, the Deputy Minister stated that residents would no longer need to travel to other regions for passport services.

He highlighted reforms by the Ministry aimed at improving efficiency, transparency, and security in passport administration, and thanked regional authorities for their cooperation. During the commissioning, five applicants received their passports directly from the Deputy Minister.

The Western North Regional Minister, Honourable Wilbert Petty Brentum, described the commissioning as a major milestone, noting that the facility brings passport services closer to residents. He expressed gratitude to the President and the Minister for Foreign Affairs and urged officers to maintain professionalism, integrity, and transparency in service delivery.

The event was attended by District Chief Executives, the Regional Deputy NADMO Director, heads of security agencies, and religious and traditional leaders.
