Invest in yourselves; you only live once - Education Minister urges youth

Dr. , Ghana's Minister for Education, has delivered an inspiring message to the youth, encouraging them to invest in their passions as the foundation for success.

He shared this advice at the premiere of Season Seven of the popular TV series “You Only Live Once” (YOLO), known for promoting essential messages such as good health, disability inclusion, family planning, nutrition, reproductive health, and child and adolescent health.

The YOLO TV series is a collaborative effort produced by Farmhouse Productions Limited, in partnership with organizations including the U.S. Agency for International Development (), (GHS), (GES), and the National Population Council, among others.

During his keynote address at the premiere, Dr. Adutwum drew upon his own humble beginnings as the son of a cocoa farmer. He shared his story of pursuing dreams despite challenges and encouraged the youth to aspire to greatness.

“You only live once, so you have to dream big. Dreams are possible, regardless of where you come from because you live this life once, invest in yourself, and don't be an average person,” he said.

Dr. Adutwum emphasized that adversity and challenges should not deter one's pursuit of excellence. “In the midst of adversity and challenges, you can be the best at what you do. Don't allow the challenges to overwhelm you and subsequently give up,” he added.

The Education Minister urged the youth to find inspiration in the YOLO series, as it can help them navigate adversities and make the right choices.

He also encouraged them to invest in their passions, maintain a positive growth mindset, and seek inspiration from and mentor other individuals who have faced similar challenges.
