Palestinian Ambassador Urges Peace in Gaza, Emphasizes Humanity Over Religion Accra, Ghana - [Date] The Palestinian Ambassador to Ghana, Mr. Abdulfatah Alsattari, emphasized that the conflict in Gaza is a humanitarian issue, not a religious one, during a press conference organized by the Coalition of Muslim Organizations, Ghana (COMOG), in collaboration with the Islamic Medical Association of Ghana (IMAG). Mr. Alsattari clarified that the ongoing war, which many believed began on October 7, 2023, was part of a long-standing battle spanning over 60 years and was not rooted in religious differences. Speaking at the event, he expressed that Palestinians have always aspired to achieve peace, but the recurrent "unfair" Israeli invasions have posed significant challenges to living peacefully over the years. He voiced the Palestinian desire for peace and freedom, stating, "We want to stop this war because we want peace for Palestine, and we believe that one day we will be free as stated in the Quran." Mr. Alsattari commended the government and the people of Ghana for their continuous solidarity and support since the conflict resurfaced. Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Hadi, a Neurosurgeon at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and the General Secretary of IMAG, emphasized that the principles of war as per the teachings of the Prophet Mohammed (SAW) did not support fighting in the name of religion. He called for global condemnation of such actions, stating, "We cannot justify this, and so if we do not stop this, we would be doing a disservice to the people of Palestine." Dr. Hadi urged religious leaders to be cautious about their teachings and avoid promoting disunity and division among people. He emphasized that the war should be viewed from the perspective of humanity to prevent undermining the value of human lives. Hajj Abdel-Manan Abdel Rahman, the President of COMOG, expressed Ghana's sadness regarding the incidents in Palestine. He called on the United Nations to intensify its efforts to bring an end to the ongoing war, emphasizing the need for collective action to address this humanitarian crisis.
