Tema MCE and Aarhus Mayor strengthen water partnership: Ghana News

Mr. Yohane Amarh Ashietey, the Metropolitan Chief Executive of , hosted Mr. Jacob Bundsgaard, the Mayor of Aarhus, , in a bid to bolster their partnership aimed at enhancing water delivery in .

Acknowledging the achievements of the first phase of the (MoU) between (GWCL) and the City of Aarhus in , Mr. Ashietey expressed gratitude to the Danish Mayor and his team.

The partnership's objective is to establish sustainable water delivery systems in Tema, with the theme “Celebration of our Friendship for Development: in the Centre of the World.”

Mr. Ashietey expressed optimism about the project's potential impact, stating, “I believe that before phase two is completed, Tema will change to the planned city it used to be.”

Mayor Jacob Bundsgaard highlighted the benefits of the cooperation between the two cities, emphasizing progress and readiness to move into the second phase of the MoU. He also emphasized the positive change this partnership would bring to both cities' residents.

Mr. Tom Norring, Denmark's Ambassador to Ghana, commended the significant and genuine partnership between Tema and the City of Aarhus despite facing challenges during the past three years, including the pandemic.

Amidu Musah, Regional Director of GWCL in Tema, acknowledged challenges faced during the construction of wastewater drainage in Community 3.

During their visit, the MCE and Mayor of Aarhus toured the Chemu Lagoon to assess its current status and the Bankuman Sewer Network.

They also visited Tema Community One Market, Site 2, to assess water supply delivery in the Metropolis.

The continued partnership aims to enhance water delivery and wastewater treatment in Tema, ultimately improving the living conditions of its residents.
