Ghanaian music executive Lawrence Nana Asiama Hanson, popularly known as BullGod, has disclosed that his time managing dancehall star Shatta Wale brought significant challenges that almost jeopardised his professional relationships in the entertainment industry.
BullGod described Shatta Wale as one of the most difficult artistes he has ever worked with, citing unpredictable behaviour, refusal to honour agreements, and controversial media appearances as major hurdles.

“He insulted my boss at Charterhouse while I was working with them at the time. That nearly cost me a lot. I got a lot of enemies just managing Shatta Wale,” BullGod recounted. He added that navigating the artist’s last-minute cancellations and deviations from agreed performances, such as at the Ghana Music Awards, often tested his managerial skills.
Despite the hurdles, BullGod emphasised that the experience was not a failure. Under his management, Shatta Wale returned to the Ghana Music Awards after years of absence, securing nominations and winning accolades. “He is a good musician, no doubt. He understands the music, he knows how to connect with the streets, and he has built a strong following. Whether people like him or not, Shatta is the dancehall king of Ghana,” he said.
BullGod also reflected on the personal growth gained from managing Shatta Wale, highlighting lessons in navigating the complex entertainment industry.
Beyond music, he shared his experience with the Menzgold saga, revealing he lost a significant sum when the company was shut down, and criticised the government for not ensuring creditors were fully paid before its closure.
Concluding the interview, BullGod advised creatives to view award nominations as recognition, rather than measure success solely by winning. “Sometimes, the most difficult experiences are the ones that teach you the most,” he said.
