He highlighted inefficiencies within GHAMRO, including issues related to royalty collection and distribution, as areas where he believes he can make a meaningful impact.
The musician emphasized the need for transparency, accountability, and modernization in the management of music rights, noting that these reforms are crucial to supporting local artists and ensuring they are fairly compensated for their work.
“Politics is not my calling,” he said. “I would rather dedicate my time and energy to fixing GHAMRO and creating a system that works for the people it is meant to serve.”
Bisa Kdei’s comments come amid ongoing discussions about improving Ghana’s creative industry infrastructure, with stakeholders calling for reforms to empower artists, protect intellectual property, and grow the sector’s contribution to the national economy.
By choosing to focus on GHAMRO, the award-winning musician is signaling a commitment to institutional change that could have a lasting effect on Ghanaian music and the welfare of local creators.
