Roads and Highways Minister Govers Kwame Agbodza

The Ministry of Roads and Highways has announced plans to reintroduce road and bridge tolls in Ghana as part of efforts to generate revenue for road maintenance and infrastructure improvements.

In a statement issued on February 6, 2025, the Ministry emphasized that the new toll system will be modern and technologically driven to enhance efficiency and accountability.

To implement this, the government will adopt an open, transparent, and competitive procurement process to ensure a cost-effective and fair selection of service providers.

The Ministry assured the public that the reintroduction of tolls will address the country’s current road maintenance funding challenges while improving the overall tolling experience.
