The final funeral rites for Rev. Anthony Kwadwo Boakye, the founder of the Resurrection Power New Generation Church, were held on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The event brought together mourners and sympathizers, particularly from his congregation.
Church members, donned in personalized white and black attire featuring the late Reverend's image, attended the solemn ceremony. Meanwhile, pastors wore black suits accompanied by clerical collars, paying their respects to the charismatic preacher.
Rev. Boakye passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital after a prolonged battle with a stroke, which he had been fighting since October 23, 2021.
The funeral proceedings encountered a setback due to a legal injunction obtained by the late clergyman's widow, Mrs. Magaret Boakye, also known as Yaa Asantewaa.
She sought to postpone the burial and final funeral rites until disputes within the family were resolved.
Amidst the discord, Yaa Boakye, the daughter of the deceased pastor, affirmed that her father's funeral would proceed as originally planned.
The tension within the family cast a shadow over the final farewell to the influential religious figure.
