Midway Hospital Marks 45 Years with Plans for Major Expansion

Midway Hospital marks 45 years with plans for major expansion

Midway Hospital, as part of its 45th anniversary, is set to invest in enhanced diagnostic infrastructure and expanded clinical spaces over the next five years as part of efforts to continue transforming lives. Medical Director Dr (Mrs) Gifty Quarshie-Ngissah announced the plans during the hospital’s 45th Anniversary celebrations in Accra, which were held under the theme “Honouring a legacy, advancing a vision: 45 years of transforming lives.”

The celebration also featured the unveiling of a bust in honour of the hospital’s founder, Dr Joseph Ameni Quarshie. Activities marking the anniversary include free National Health Insurance Scheme registration for residents of Okaikoi North, a staff thanksgiving service, and year-long health education programmes for schools and corporate organisations.

Dr Quarshie-Ngissah described the hospital’s 45-year journey as a legacy built on faith, sacrifice, and patient-centred care. She said the facility will strengthen reproductive health services, deepen community and strategic partnerships, and build staff capacity through development and specialisation.

She reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to its 2020 guiding theme, “A Future of Endless Possibilities,” stressing that with visionary leadership, resilient teams, and collaborative partnerships, world-class care will be accessible to every patient who walks through their doors.
