GES Eastern Region launches 2024 Outstanding Achievement Awards for teachers

The (GES) in the has initiated the 2024 Outstanding Achievement Awards scheme, under the theme “Inspiring Change: Recovery Begins with .”

Emphasizing the pivotal role of educators in driving transformation, Dr Ivy Asantewa Owusu, the Eastern Regional Director of GES, underscored the significance of in unlocking Ghana's potential for growth and development.

Dr. Owusu announced the scheme with enthusiasm, stating that it would recognize and celebrate teachers who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to excellence and innovation in their teaching practices. She praised educators for their adaptability to new teaching methods and technologies, as well as their resilience and compassion in overcoming challenges.

The awards scheme will not only honor teaching staff but also recognize non-teaching personnel who have contributed to the advancement of education through innovation and resilience.

In her appeal for support, Dr. Owusu called on organizations, individuals, , and various departments to contribute to the success of the awards ceremony, scheduled for July 2024.

The launch event was marked by the lighting of firecrackers, signifying the commencement of the awards scheme. Additionally, several committees, including general, sponsorship, communication, and financial committees, were inaugurated to oversee the planning and execution of the upcoming ceremony.

Mr. Seth Kwame Acheampong, Eastern Regional Minister, urged leaders to create an enabling environment for the award-winning teachers, encouraging them to share their knowledge and expertise with their colleagues. He emphasized collaboration and mutual support among educators to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the education system.

The launching ceremony, held in , the eastern regional capital, saw the participation of district and municipal directors of GES, teacher unions, and various stakeholders in education, demonstrating a collective commitment to recognizing and celebrating outstanding achievements in the field of education.
