Reconstruction of Agona-Nkwanta -Tarkwa road, 80 per cent complete

During a recent tour of major ongoing road projects in the , Mr Francis Asenso-Boakye, the Minister for Roads and Highways, received a briefing from Mr Peter Quarshie, the Site Manager for the reconstruction of the 66-kilometre Agona-Nkwanta to road. Mr Quarshie reported that the project is currently 80 per cent complete and is expected to be fully finished by the end of August.

The project, which commenced in 2021 with an estimated cost of 95 million Euros, is being executed by M/S Gabriel Couto-Rango Consortium, with funding from Deutche Bank AG, Frankfurt, . Mr Quarshie outlined the scope of work, including concrete works such as building drains, pipe, and box culverts, as well as the application of various asphalt layers and provision of walkways, medians, streetlights, and traffic signs.

Assuring the Minister of Roads and Highways, Mr Quarshie that the contractor is committed to meeting the project deadline of August 30. Mr Asenso-Boakye expressed satisfaction with the progress and commended the contractor for the quality of work. He highlighted the importance of the completed project in facilitating socio-economic activities and improving living standards along the corridor.

During the tour, Mr Asenso-Boakye also assessed progress on other ongoing projects in the region, including the Sekondi to road dualisation, and sectional repair works on the main to highway. Additionally, he inspected proposed road construction in Mpohor, the dualisation of Takoradi to Agona-Nkwanta, and the Shama Junction-Shama roads. The government reiterated its commitment to providing robust road infrastructure across the country to support sustainable growth.
