President Akufo-Addo commissions Kaleo Solar Power Plant

President Nana Addo Dankwa recently inaugurated the second phase of the 15-megawatt Kaleo Solar Power Plant in the Nadowli-Kaleo district of the region. Developed and owned by the (VRA), this solar power plant represents a significant milestone in Ghana's journey towards clean energy adoption. The electricity generated from this renewable facility will be integrated into the national grid, enhancing power supply quality in the Region and contributing to the reduction of national carbon emissions by approximately 8,917 tons, aligning with Ghana's commitments.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, President underscored Ghana's dedication to harnessing clean energy resources for a sustainable future. He emphasized the pivotal role of renewable energy in driving economic growth, mitigating effects, and ensuring energy security for all citizens. The President highlighted Kaleo's strategic importance as a renewable energy hub, citing its natural resources and potential to attract investment and innovation.

President Akufo-Addo commended the collaborative efforts of stakeholders, including local chiefs, the German Government, the VRA, and project contractors, in the successful completion of the solar power plant. He stressed the need for incentivizing green investments, promoting energy efficiency, and prioritizing renewable energy projects to bolster Ghana's energy sector. Additionally, the President reaffirmed the government's commitment to enhancing the electricity transmission network to support the evacuation of more renewable energy through the national grid and achieve full electricity access nationwide by the end of the year.
