Minister Francis Asenso-Boakye inspects road projects in Western Region

Mr. Francis Asenso-Boakye, the Minister for Roads and Highways, has undertaken a tour of the to assess the progress of major road projects in the area. Among the projects inspected are the PTC interchange, Sekondi to road dualisation, and repair works on the Nkroful Junction – Ketan to Kojokrom Junction-Kojokrom Market Road, situated on the main Takoradi to highway. Additionally, proposed road construction at Mpohor, the dualisation of Takoradi to Agona Nkwanta, and reconstruction of Agona to roads were also reviewed.

Accompanied by Mr. , the Western Regional Minister, officials from the Ghana Highway Authority and Department of Urban Roads, as well as Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives, Mr. Asenso-Boakye conducted thorough inspections of the sites. Following the inspection, the Minister expressed contentment with the progress made on the various projects and commended the contractors for their dedication.

Mr. Asenso-Boakye emphasized that upon completion, these projects would not only alleviate the challenges faced by commuters but also stimulate economic activities in the respective project areas. He urged the on-site contractors to maintain diligence and adhere to specified timelines for project completion.

Recognizing the substandard condition of some roads in the , the Minister reiterated the government's commitment to enhancing infrastructure, including road networks, to uplift the socio-economic welfare of citizens.

Moreover, Minister Asenso-Boakye cautioned the public against encroaching on and disposing of solid waste into drains along roads. He emphasized that such actions impede the flow of water in the drains, leading to water spillage onto roads and subsequent damage, particularly during rainy seasons.

“I am urging the people to stop encroaching the channels of the drains and disposing of solid waste into them so that we can save our roads from damage from rainwater,” he stressed.

The Minister's visit underscores the government's dedication to improving infrastructure and ensuring sustainable development across regions in Ghana.
