China Media Group Africa explores partnership opportunities with Ghana News Agency

A delegation from the Media Group (CMG) Africa, accompanied by officials from the Chinese Embassy in Ghana, visited the Ghana Agency (GNA) headquarters in to discuss potential collaboration and partnership opportunities between the two organizations. Led by Mr. Li Peichun, Deputy Director-General of CMG Africa, the delegation engaged with GNA management to explore avenues for enhancing production and reach.

The discussions centred on how CMG Africa and GNA could leverage their respective strengths to upscale news production and expand their audience reach. The CMG Africa delegation included Mr. Kwame Ren, Media Manager of the Chinese Embassy, Madam Li Ye, Senior Editor and Correspondent at CMG Africa, and Mr. Shan Feng, a Photographer.

Mr. Albert Kofi Owusu, the General Manager of GNA, highlighted the agency's focus on producing digital content to cater to its radio and television subscribers both locally and internationally. He expressed GNA's interest in tapping into the growing digital market and emphasized the success of previous pilot projects in producing audio-visual content for TV and radio subscribers.

Mr. Owusu underscored the potential for collaboration in training and capacity building for GNA's editorial staff in audio-visual and digital content creation and distribution. He also mentioned the possibility of cooperation in leveraging (AI) to enhance content creation, productivity, and speed.

Mr. Li Peichun affirmed CMG's commitment to partnering with GNA, revealing plans to formalize the collaboration through a (MoU) to be signed at the Forum on Africa Cooperation Summit in Beijing later in the year. He emphasized that the partnership would be mutually beneficial and flexible, allowing both organizations to explore areas of interest.

The China Media Group, a national broadcaster of China, encompasses various media platforms, including China Global Television Network, China Central Television, China National Radio, and China Radio International. With its African outlet headquartered in Nairobi, , CMG operates in 20 countries and has eight overseas bureaus.
